Quan Yin (Japan, Kannon), popular Chinese goddess of mercy, holding a lotus blossom and leaf. 21 inches tall including the carved wood base. Note the delicate portrayal of the hands, Unmarked, age unknown.

    Hi Sillwater, thanks for reviving this posting. I wish I could say it was Blanc de Chine but there are two problems: I don't have anything associating it with Dehua; secondly, it lacks the ivory shading expected of Blanc de Chene. It could be Jingdezhen. It's a very heavy piece, even for it's size, at 6 1/2 pounds. By the way, were the references I sent of any use? Regards, Jim
