I.O.O.F. ORPHANS' HOME GILROY, CALIFORNIA.
This orphans' home was established by the Rebekah Assembly under a resolution adopted in May 1896.
The objective of the home will be to teach each child to be industrious and self-reliant and to place within his or her reach some tangible means of support, and each child will be expected and required to perform their share of work in the home. They had chores and took care of animals.
There were several who later served in the military. Thirty-four "home kids" served in WWI and one was killed in action. Sixty-Two served in WWII and two were killed in action. Nine served in Korea.
During the years of operation seven hundred children lived in this home.

mikielikesigns2,
I thought I would post this after posting my Little Orphan Annie wristwatch.
My son and daughter-in-law have been in the adoption process for almost 2 years now. It is a very long process, but they are getting closer.
Thanks for looking, commenting and showing the appreciation.
