    Hello:
I went to another great yard/estate sale (first one there, of course, you know me) and I was about to leave the sale after finding some great jewelry pieces- one of which I will post after this- when the guy helping out at the sale reminded me that it was an inside sale as well. I have GOT to be more alert even though I try to get there early, 'cause it totally slipped my mind about the inside. Anyway, I went into the dining area, found some nice things there, but saw this hiding on a shelf. I knew it was Native American pottery, but didn't know what tribe affiliation, turned it over and saw it was signed. Got this pot along with a few other things for about $30 total.

Be very careful, there are TONS of Fannie Nampeyo fakes out there. That signature looks good though, I bet its real. She's one of the best of the Hopi potters, very valuable stuff

Hi Stillwater- I do believe this is the real thing though. I checked many sites that have her pottery for comparisons on style and signature. This came from a house that had lots of old and vintage items. The lady's husband had recently passed away and her church took care of selling the items in her home for her.

Yeah thats what I said, I compared the signature to another piece and it looks to be the same hand. Fannie Nampeyo is one of the best names (or maybe THE best?) in Hopi pottery, you did good.

      Update:
I recently sold this pot to a gallery in California for $400; I could have gotten between $600-$800 had I let them sell it on consignment, but I took the outright purchase price because I needed the money immediately for some purchases. I am still happy though, because this pot cost me practically nothing.
