The hardest Mimosa color to find is the Rosa / Red. I now have all the colors that I know of : gold (candia), green (creta), blue and red (rosa).
Nice simple shape with large polished pontil. 7 inches high.

Ok, that made me LOL. I have been trying to do the same thing since I fell in love with this glass many years ago. After I visited the Glass Museum Passau last year I realized that even Herr Holtl with his 40,000 pieces of glass hasn't been able to accomplish feat! But I do have to give him (BTW, the museum is actually his Private Collection which I'm afraid is what our homes are going to look like if we continue this quest!) a lot of credit for trying. Wow! What an awesome site the GMP is to see.

Yes, I've seen the Passau site. Wonderful collection.......but I wonder how many pieces he "stole" for nothing. I remember Walter Chrysler when he was building his collection ( Provincetown but now in VA ) would go around and get wonderful pieces of Tiffany for peanuts. He showed me a hanging shade (now worth $50,000.) that he talked an estate lawyer out of for $25.00.

Tiffany was cheap and under appreciated until the famous Gluck collection sale at Christies in 1980. Loetz was even less valued then. Holtl purchased most of his Loetz in the 70's & 80's. He told me that he had many sleepless nights knowing how much he had invested in this glass that no one valued at the time. The value of Loetz certainly has gone up since then but there are still many treasures to be found. Have you ever watched the Antiques Road show? Last year a lady purchased a Tiffany Peacock Mirror at a yard sale for $5 that was worth $25,000. Do you think she "stole" it or she was a lucky treasurer hunter? I would say the later!

send me email, i want to hear. collecting is nothing more than a hunting and gathering pathology...would fishing be fun if there were no fishing stories?

"Rosa Mimosa" is fun to say! I am still looking for #1; this color combination is fantastic, and the rosa-red glass is beautiful, rare, and expensive (gold is used to make the glass red if I'm not mistaken). Similar to V. Durand Moorish Crackle; this decor is simple but stunning, and very difficult to produce from what I have read. Thanks!

dasullywon : thanks for the comments. And yes the surface is gold iridescent but the red shows through the "cracks". With light on the vase it just glows a gold-red.
