I thought it had been awhile since I posted a new, old tin sign. Nearly three months. I was commenting on Spriteboy's sweet red & yellow signage earlier today, and failed to note I do now have one which fits that bill. I've long wanted one of these rising sun signs. I finally acquired this one on a negotiated eBay BIN deal last week. The 8-Pack recently held a sidebar debating pros and cons of eBay. We didn't cover "shipping damage" as a con. It is a factor and I experienced it here. This thin gauge embossed sign was not properly packaged and heavy box damage via USPS indicated an ugly sight to come. When I pulled the sign out, it had one corner bent completely back like a dog-ear, as well as a significant overall wave effect. I was able to straighten out the bends, but lost some paint in the process. In the end, I hung it, and couldn't bare to take it down, so decided to accept the additional imperfections. It belongs.

Love the placement of it all!

Great sign! Nice! I have had problems with Ebay purchases as you did, poor packageing and shipping damage but I allways contact the seller and allways get a small refund or full refund if sent back. Ed

THAT is the way to display!!! Now the comments: I guess im just ignorant but what is a "bin" deal? Ive bought quite a few items from e-bay & i "went to war" on almost every item. Also, shipping damage doesnt happen (often) with porcelain on steel signs, (thank god) but i have bought some tin ones & when you see that crease in the cardbord box, YOU DO HOLD YOUR BREATH when you open them. So far so good, damn, i probably just jinxed myself!!!

Thanks Bernie, EJW, and Ray. I thought about pressing for some discount or sending it back, but decided not to pursue. I must be getting soft. I guess my happiness with the sign outweighed slight disappointment with it being diminished by inadequate packaging/handling. Hey TGBWC, you know I avoid bid auctions like the plague! :) I'd say 10% of my eBay purchases tilt in that direcction. I much rather prefer negotiating price or jumping on a good BIN deal. If I do get drawn into a traditional auction, I place one bid only at the last second, then wait for the thrill of victory... or agony of defeat!

Hi Mikie, BIN is Buy It Now. These are eBay listings where sellers provide a straight purchase price (as opposed to a bid style auction, like you described). I've had a fair amount of success persuading sellers with traditional auctions to post BIN prices based on a system of negotiation. I find that I increase my success acquiring Coca-Cola signs and ad pieces by sticking to BIN listings, negotiated BIN, and an occasional (ick!) bid auction. Prerequisite for good results, of course, is to look at every single eBay listing for Coca-Cola!

Great sign buy Dave! However you get it, as long as you get it, that's really all the matters. I love it.

Thanks Perry! I know you know, it's not easy. It's a game. An expensive game. Hope it's going good, my friend, great to hear from you.

Great sign Dave glad to hear your BIN paid off again, unfortunte the damage it took during shipping tho, I hate when that happens.

thanks Mr. nobucks, or should i call you daddy? LOL .Im not to informed as to the average selling prices of Coca-Cola items but, in gas & oil those buy-it-now prices are ASTRONOMICAL! Even if i promised to throw in my wife & got it for 60% off id be "butt-hurt".

Thanks Trev! Hey mikie, when sellers post sky high BIN prices, I skip right over those listings. Nothing kills a sale quicker than unrealistic expectations. Thanks for your comments (and please call me Dave!).

That's a sweet one for sure!!! The super sniper strikes again, lol. I agree with ya about unrealistic prices for some of these things, it's like people think they are holding onto pure gold. What makes matters worse is that sometimes they are getting what they ask.

Thanks Tommy! Yep, you and TGBWC are right, some of the Coca-Cola stuff looks like sellers pulled pricing out of Ripley's Believe It Or Not instead of Petretti's! But there are great deals to be had out there. Keep the faith and keep on looking.
