This thimble was found at the Salvos a couple of years ago. Every once in a while I need to do some sewing and this little piece comes in handy. Buttons on business shirts are a thing of the past, after 60. But …… recently Russ my partner’s pet stuffed dog needed some surgery: out came the needles, thread and Josiah had a hand in the procedure too!
Poor Russ!
Surgery complete, the thimble awaits its next outing in its original box and of course I went nuts! Perhaps I’m the one who needs a lobotomy!
Thimbles is an area of collecting mania that has so far eluded me.
But I do have a couple! This one is my favourite.
It’s stamped Wedgwood, England. This indicates that it was made between 1980 & 1990. After this they had a different stamp on the verso.
The box has a label “J1100T 3548.”
It has a portrait of Josiah Wedgwood on the front in dark blue jasper on a grey ground.
If you want to know everything about Jasper thimbles check out this: http://thimbleselect.bizland.com/wedgwood.htm
Some people collect stuffed toys too!

Unfortunately there was a relapse and Russ needed further surgery over the weekend, he is doing fairly well for his age but I will keep you posted about his progress, mon amie.
Please tell Russ to stop bunge jumping off the Harbour bridge or swimming with the sharks or whatever he is doing to lose his stuffing. I am a worrier.

Many thanks Amber. Unfortunately Russ takes little notice of my advice, like most youngsters, I suppose these days. I often find him in places where he should not go, doing things that will lead to even more " wear and tear". I am merely left to pick up the pieces, don the jasper and make things "better" yet again.
Many thanks petey!
