It's a decanter. These were really popular in the 1970's. I honestly don't know if was around before then or not. Some have a "made in Italy" sticker on them and are blown glass. The internal reservoir was used for ice, and it had a cork that kept it in. Then beverage/wine could be poured into the main container and would be chilled without diluting it. I had one I let my daughter have and wish I'd have kept. *LOL* You can see one on "the Bay" item number 390432645335 and there is one here also:

Chinablue thank you for pointing me in the right direction, but still tryin to find a price now.. But u have me on a track instead of just guessing and waitin hours..
The price seems to fluctuate on these. Some are made much better than others. I've seen them go for around $20 and upwards of $50.
