Number 2 in my Japanese handkerchief exposé :)
This is a Japanese Blue Dye Oriental Lily Handkerchief. It is traditional Kimono dye (Ai-Zome). The tag says 'Kusabana no uta?Flowers Song) ', Ai-Zome?Indigo Japan Blue Dye), and the Japanese indigo plant is a DATE-AI?Polygonaceae). The traditional indigo dye process was developed in the Edo era. Only a traditional craftsman can make this. This handkerchief is about 43cm square.
