Indian Motorcycles....1901-1953. The "Indian Motocycle Co." was originally founded as the Hendee Manufacturing Company by George M. Hendee in 1897 to manufacture bicycles. In 1901, a prototype and two production units of the diamond framed Indian Single were successfully designed, built and tested. The first Indian motorcycles, featuring chain drives and streamlined styling, were sold to the public in 1902. In 1903, Indian's co-founder and chief engineer Oscar Hedström set the world motorcycle speed record (56 mph). Highly sought after Indians are still on the road today.

I dont think this is from an early model original Indian. They only used decals on the tanks, not emblems. Your emblem looks like a 2000 Polaris brand Indian.
Tony , these were use on the big twins in 1953

This emblem came off my dad's 48 Indian chief. This type was used from '47-'53. The paint that is left on it is the color of his motorcycle..I think it was called "Prairie Green". He called it the "Green Angel. We'll have to post a picture of it sometime! :-)
this appers to be the same emblem on my dads 1946 chief. Be sure to package it good before you ship it! LOL
That Green Angel was super cherry. SWEEEET!
Thanks mikie....and officialfuel and kerry and trunkman
jimborasco,
I have a photo somewhere of my uncle on his Indian with sidecar. I wish it was sell around.
Dave
Thank you Dave. Man, you sure could turn some heads when the people heard that ROAR!!
Nice! Looks like a tank emblem from about a 1948 Chief/Roadmaster, give or take a couple years.
Thanks for checking the emblem out....Vontrike and NicksCrustyStuff
