By the mid thirties, Art Nouveau/Jugendstil-- was definitely on the wane. The organic form esthetic stemming from a detailed study of natural shapes and structures had evolved into a cult of angles and machine crafted glass. The best book on the subject: Wichmann's "Floral, Functional", with Neuwirth coming a close second with his massive study of flower and organic shapes in AN/Jugendstil artifacts.

And then, Kralik stuns with a hybrid piece, showing the persistence of the Art Nouveau organic form aesthetic, coupled with the vibrant, vivid colors of much mass produced Czech deco glass (Tango, anyone?).

The applied leaf "crown" motif: three down, three up, appears in Kralik as early as 1900 (Monograph 59, West Virginia Museum). So do the leaf garlands, usually applied to the bottom. A combination of yellow crown, red ribbed body (another Kralik marker), and green bottom garland, 7: tall and with A DOUBLE two-line mark, this vase has it all.

Thus, promises about "not a single one more" are actually MEANT to be broken when the right piece comes along . . . .

Vases like this always make me want to sleep with eyes wide open, in a 24 hour worshipful contemplation watch!

PICTURES HAVE BEEN CHANGED AS PER THE CW REQUEST ON BEHALF OF A "WHISTLEBLOWER" THAT ACCUSED ME O USING DEALER'S PICTURES. CW PROTECTS THE IDENTITY OF SUCH INDIVIDUALS.

Tango - more like tangy - like sweet and sour candy! Are you sure the petals on top aren't made of real lemons? Talk about colors that POP!

Not for this exact same shape, but there are plenty of vases with similar leaf attachments i the same places. i have one in red; the leaves are clear but lined in blue!
