The Luftwaffe is a generic German term for an air force. It is also the official name for two of the four historic German air forces, the Wehrmacht air arm founded in 1935 and disbanded in 1946. The Luftwaffe played a very key role during WWII. The force developed its own uniforms, headgear and belt buckles. 1940 pattern, steel construction, combat box buckle, with ammunition pouches.

This is not your common Luftwaffe buckle. The wings r wider & shorter. My guess is a really early model. I've never seen 1 quite like it but I'm not an expert. Don't let somebody talk you out of it at a cheap price. Luftwaffe buckles r almost always alum.. What metal is this?
I think it's just common steel....Heavier than aluminum. And i wouldn't sell it. Can't get taken that way.
