This is a General Electric item, unknown what it was used for. It has etched amber glass with GE etched on both sides, a brass top and heavy cast bottom. If anyone knows how old this item is and what is was used for, please let me know.

My first thought is, due to it's skookum (sturdy) nature that it just might be railroad-related. Maybe an oiling mechanism. You might get some luck in a train-oriented thread or website. Be sure to post any serial numbers that might be on it.
