Kerry, I found another Ansonia for my empty box!
I was looking through a cabinet this morning and found another Ansonia that is proper for my empty "THE GUIDE" box I had. Note the dial on this one, which has the 5 minute numerals around the outer edge. Maybe this is "THE GUIDE", guiding you through the hour by marking every 5 minute. Far fetched idea, but it works for me.
I also tried to get a better photo of the bottom of the box with the mailing address and postage stamps.
Here is the earlier post I made with the empty box:
"Here is an Ansonia THE GUIDE box only.
Again a wood box like the other two shown with inside divided for the watch.
This one is in pretty poor shape as far as the labels are coming apart.
Labels are similar to THE MENTOR except this one is THE GUIDE.
This one, someone put two U.S. POSTAGE TWO CENT stamps on the bottom of the box (one is wrapped around the side). I think these stamps date to 1908-22.
Lightly in pencil, marked on the bottom of the box is:
Ernest G. Knight
West Waterboro, ME.
From Myra H. (?) Wiss, (maybe Truss, after blowing up the photo)
Appears this box, and I assume a watch, was mailed as shown, without any other wrapping or outer box."
I'm happy I found a watch for this old, and definitely showing it's age, wood box.
Thanks for looking,
