Mourning Jewelry has always been one of my favourite fields of Antique Jewelry Collection.
This superb Vulcanite Mourning Cross was one of my favourite pieces from my past collection. Intricately carved with romantic flowers a very beautiful example of the genre.
I was recently given a fabulous calling card that belonged to one of my ancestors and she is shown here wearing a similar example of Victorian Mourning Jewelry it is impossible for me to say for certain which but it is definitely either a Whitby Jet or Vulcanite Cross on a broad link chain similar to the one from my archive shown on the left.
I think she looks super with her mourning parure earrings, hairpin and the fabulous necklace.
Just wish I could see her bracelets too as I bet she was wearing some in pairs as was the Victorian fashion : )
Hope you enjoy!!
NB this item is from my jewelry archive and no longer available for sale.
