This is a nice example of what I call one of the Loetz "flask" shapes. It reminds me of lab-glass, which might be the German influence, but I don't know the origins of this shape in glassware. I do know that there is a larger version, which has a more bulbous-base and is about 9" tall (this one is less than 7") which I have owned in the Medici decor. There is also a smaller one (about 5") which I have in the golden Aeolus decor. This shows how shape can echo through a manufacturers' product lines, and can be an important clue in identification. Having an authentic signature helps too! This one also shows the vertical lines (in the engraving); evidence of the correct engraving-tool ( see for more examples of genuine Loetz signatures). The decor is also well documented Loetz Phanomen*.

*NOTE: I have seen a FAKE version of 2/351 on (of course!) ebay, and it is made by the same place that has been flooding the market with Loetz look-alikes (as if we need any more confusion!). These pieces were made within the last few years, and the "Argus" has spots without the fine detail/lines. It is definately made to deceive, although the ad says "Huge 10" Bohemian Iridescent Vase". The next guy might think it is Loetz? That's all we need!
