This is a Vietnam Era Mine Detector in the Original Case. I'm not sure of the exact year but was told it was used during the Vietnam War.
I guess it's complete, probably will not get a chance to use it. If you know more about it, would like to hear from you.

   Just spotted this.....Well here goes...you did ask ..LOL (P.S. Thanks for the post!):
   
   Some say it was good at detecting, others were critical, but then again it probably depended on correct training to use effectively. There are some stories circulating that the sets were removed early from service as unreliable but they were just superceded in the "normal" course of events.
   
   The AN/PRS-7 was developed by the US Army with production being undertaken by Fourdee Inc. It is a simple,rugged solid-state equipment capable of detecting non-metallicanti-tank and anti-personnel mines.The AN/PRS-7 consists of four major components, search head,handle, control box and headset.The mine is detected by the field of the square search head assembly, which consists of two transmitting antennas, one receiving antenna and transmission wires which run inside the handle to thecontrol box. The search head generates and radiates a continuous wave RF signal and receives and demodulates this signal. A rubber bumper is mounted around the search head as a protective measure. The telescopic handle, which is detachable from the search head, can be extended from 0.482 to 1.752 m. The handle is normally used inthe walking position with the search head about 1.219 m away from theoperator's body. The detector head can also be swivelled to allow theoperator to use the equipment while prone. The control box, which is mounted on the handle, consists of the signal processing board with its associated electronic components, thebattery and the controls. The latter features a `search' mode which isused to locate the presence and general position of the mine. The exact position of the mine is determined in the `point' mode, usingany of the sensitivity levels. Through control sensitivity selection,the mine detector will discriminate and work effectively on both magnetic and non-magnetic soil, and terrain covered with other debris.
