This is what I think is an old English silver salt dish. Of course I broke the glass insert that was in it due to my fumbly hands. It is a three-footed bowl and the style of the feet is what threw me to old English style.
There was no lid if it did have one. The only mark I could find on it is in the center of the bottom which just says Sterling 950. I will try some further research but I think I am stumped for now.
Origin found to be Japan circa 1880-early 1900's
