Audrey Kawasaki 2008 Intaglio Print w/ Hand Color & Embossed – “Okimiyage”. Printed on custom Twinrocker paper with Charbonell inks and archivally mounted by Pressure Printing, Inc. Hand-tinted in pencil by Audrey Kawasaki, and signed and numbered by the artist. Printer’s proof #1/10 (regular edition of 50). Dimensions: Print size 8.75” x 12.75”. Framed size 12” x 16”.

The themes in Audrey Kawasaki's work are contradictions within themselves. Her work is both innocent and erotic. Each subject is attractive yet disturbing. Audrey's precise technical style is at once influenced by both manga comics and Art Nouveau. Her sharp graphic imagery is often combined with the natural grain of the wood panels she paints on, bringing an unexpected warmth to enigmatic subject matter and another tip-of-the-hat to the naturalism of the Art Nouveau era. Published biographical articles in NY Arts Magazine, iDN Magazine, Jane Magazine (“Hot Young Artists,” Nov. 2006), Los Angeles times (“The Vibe That Binds the Scene,” Sept. 7, 2006), Hi Fructose (Vol. 6), Juxtapoz (July, 2008), Vogue Australia (Oct., 2007).
