    Is this a Civil War buckle? Inscription says "Gibson Trimble, Pittsburgh, PA".

      It is not a military issue Civil War belt buckle.

      The engraving is consistent with 19th century.

      Agree with jason-- photographs of the back may help to determine what it is.
