This is the second ornament that I found that was similar to one featured in an episode of t.v.'s " Storage Wars ". The episode was called Driving Miss Barry, which I had taped when it appeared on a re-run. There is a third hood ornament on that episode that was called 'action twins' which should be super hard to find ! Also the appraisers prices were wrong. The last hood ornament was an action twins mascot, and insted of a grand the last time one sold was for 2000 dollars and that was 6 years ago !~
An airplane mascot which I bought as it is a rare one which comes up for sale rather seldom, I had seen one a while ago on ebay but I believe I saw some flaws with it.
This one is illuminated also, so will hopefully get it working again soon, just love it ! On one side of the plane the light is red and on the other side is green because of a orange and green filter on the sides. The expert who looked at it on the show said it was from the late 1920's or 1930. I did see it in one of my books now saying it is of 1927.

This is awesome Phil !!!!!!! I love love it . I wish I had my Dads airplane he recieved when he left Convair . After he passed my son mailed it to me and it was broken on way here I was just sick. he received it in the late 50's or very early 60's
Convair was an American aircraft manufacturing company which later expanded into rockets and spacecraft. The company was formed in 1943 . He was a pilot and we left that job as he was transferred to a missile site in TX . It was a tabletop replica exact of one of their early planes . I have a fondness for airplanes as long as I don't have to fly in one :-) Very Nice collection going Phil can't wait to see next one :-)
Saw the episode and love the piece. Great find!
Sweet piece! I always liked the mascots, especially the illuminated ones. Enjoy!
Thank you upstatecollector and Harbourguy, Manikin and all the loves !!
Yes, and starting today will be posting more that I overpaid at auction, but I wanted them bad and not going to find them in my area !~Phil
Are you tempted to put one on your hood just for the day?
Hey PhilDavidAlexanderMorris, When you said you were going to start collecting decorative hood ornaments you weren't kidding! How many do you have so far ? They are all awesome, and most of them I have never seen before. Thanks for sharing with us. Thrifty
Thanks Thrifty, I don't know what happened to me, I am getting lost almost in all the info, and the collecting. This is one hobby that puts out the rules, you just try to keep up like a puppy, and yet its the most satisfying yet !~Phil.
Thank you Neil, one of my favourites.
