I found this on a railroad utility pole. On the poles were simpler glass insulators. Does anybody know what this? Value? It had a 1/2 shielded power line at the top and a 1/8 inch bare copper wire coming from the bottom. The metal inside looks like brass throughout.

The bare copper wire is a ground for sure. As the rest, I beleave this was for restorying the power. When U run a power line a long way (with small wire) it will lose amps & volts. This keeped the power stable.... IMO
