On the cover of the last issue in the Pogo series, No. 16 from Apr-June, 1954, Albert is determined to eat a cake he's just baked that's so hard he's forced to cut it with an ax. Naturally it does not occur to him that his teeth won't have better luck, but Pogo appears to understands the futility of his pal's actions.
Inside, we get a terrific pirate story, in which Pogo lights Albert's fake mustache on fire while lighting his cigar. And after toppling Owl into a mud puddle with a "WOOMP!" and a "SPLOP!," Owl utters a classic Kelly expression of rage, "ROWR! ROWR!" I love these guys...
