This oil painting by Judith Anne Washington 24" X 28" seems to me to have been painted soon after completion of bridge or few years after. It has $70 marked on card found on back of painting and also "Sounds of Silence" as the title, I am just wondering who she was, front of painting is signed Judith A. W. I really enjoy mysteries! toracat

I think this was painted around 1940 and sold for $70. In 1940 $70 was = to $750. now, in 1940 minimum wage was 43 cents an hour, a house was $6,000 and teachers made $1,300 year. I have searched everywhere for Judith Anne Washington, maybe she married and painted with another name, or was from another country and visiting S. F. If this was cleaned it would really look great. toracat

I think it has 55-60 yr. of smoking on it! It would lite up if cleaned! toracat
