Picked up this 1950s motion light up counter sign. The sign still lights up, but the motion is currently not working. When I first plugged it in, the motion tried to fire up then quit. A mechanic at my work is going to try and get it running right. Not in perfect condition by any means, but cleaned up and running right it should be a good buy. I have not seen too many of these signs, so I figured it is pretty rare.

Hey Jameyrd, nice find! Tell your friend to be careful with the insides. They usually can be repaired but you want to keep this as original as possible. These are getting harder to find in any condition at all. One close to yours, in the Pet. 12th edition, in near mint condition is worth around $1,800. Yours being far from near mint, who knows but certainly a hard one to find! Hope he can save the "PAUSE"
Wow, maybe I will just leave it alone! Thanks Perry!
Its a great item i would leave it original and broken rather than new internal parts and working.
What a great sign, if mine I would have to get it working!
Thanks Trevor!
Thanks EJW-54, I read that these motors burn out and can be replaced. I will surely have it checked out.
Thanks to chevy59 , officialfuel , Longings and mikielikesigns2 !
Repairing/replacing the motor will not hurt the value of this. If anything, it'll increase the value. And these aren't that rare. These were made sturdy to last....and most have lasted.
Thanks for the info Ray!
