last evening, one of the pickers who brings me stuff he finds while cleaning out old houses brought me over 50 frames, along w/ some paintings, etchings, interesting prints - all mostly victorian or arts/crafts. the photos are just a few of them to give you an idea of the variety and quality of them. i barely have room to move around in my little house right now. can't wait to get rid of some or move them to one of my warehouses.
i'm very curious about the first frame. it stands about 30" tall. it looks like those frames you see w/ convex mirrors in them, but it's enormous for one of those. i wonder who made it and what for. it looks like it was made around 1876, so probably some kind of centennial thing??
the second frame is one of the most beautiful ones i think. it's definitely arts/crafts style - it's carved oak w/ some kind of silver gilding on it. because of the silver, it probably had a night-time or very dark painting in it. it's really beautifully crafted.
i think the third frame is a beaux artes or hudson river school frame. it's in wonderful shape, except i think it was painted all over w/ gold paint where it's probably walnut w/ gilding underneath. not sure though.
ditto for the last one. it's a beautiful frame, but that silver doesn't look quite right. i could be wrong though.
he also brought me several 5 gal buckets filled with old keys from the same house. many/most of them are very interesting and some look like they go way back to the early 1700s. i don't know whether there is even a market for them, but i have thousands of them right now.

Wow, thousands of keys! I am sure there is interest. I see mason jars of them for sale on Etsy. Can you take a picture? Love to see them.
if anyone can tell me anything about the frames, particularly the one w/ the eagle on it, i'd love to learn more about them - age, makers, styles, values, etc... i'll post some more photos of other ones later. i'll get some key photos up soon too.
your favorite is my favorite! Is it steel,cast iron or wood? Man, you HAVE to put some kind of American "themed" picture in this. Also luv the next two frames also.
i found out about that one. it is a rare girandole centennial frame. several different kinds were made and this is the largest and best one - particularly because of the 13 stars. so it held a very large convex mirror. know where i can get one that's 24" across?!
ive got a perfect convex mirror, BUT, its only 18" diam.its in a plastic frame that has the eagle broken off the top. If you could figure a way to "matt" the other 6", its yours.
