This stein is believed to be German (german wording on stein). The lid opens and is made of what I think is lead. Its hand painted, with what looks like a German general on a horse (also the lid has similar). Its a family item and has been since the 1940's. The most interesting part of stein is when you open the lid raise the bottom to the light, a nearly transparent picture of a man and woman are holding hands. This can only be seen if a bright light shines thru the bottom of stein. I've never since this before, nor have I seen the figurine on the lid. Any help is welcomed. Thanks!

It is a Regimental German Stein (Calvary). The wording along the bottom rim is probably the service member that served under Prince Carl von Bayern's Cavalry Regiment unit. The lid is probably pewter, not lead.
