Thanks Packrat and Hunter . Scandi this was just a place local farmers could take their crops to have them milled or sell them . Not sure cats and dogs can keep rats away LOL In the silo on our farm they were in there and we had many many cats and dogs. They are dirty rodents and freak me out !

Hi David I am not sure . My Grandmother did not date photo . I did try to google a Grain mill in Ashton and nothing comes up . I am guessing this photo was taken in 1960 to 70 ?

It's still standing, if you look on Google maps satellite view, it sits at the end of 2 nd street & North Railroad Street. Google street view doesn't work in Ashton, but you can tell by the layout that it is the Elevator in question.

Now that is cool David ! Lots of tree and bush over growth and signs seem to be gone . Gee I think his mill is a historical site in Ashtom. Love that PO ! Now if we can find Gas station too :-)

What seems curious Mani, is that in the second image walksoftly found, there seems to be (fairly) new sheetmetal enclosing the center section of the building, where they would have loaded the grain cars on the R.R. . But those tracks dont look very used .?????????? This would make a GREAT building for the C.W. complaint department. LOL

Hey mikie if you look on google earth, you will see that the rails have been pulled, they are piled up to the east of the elevator. I think it's been a while since this building was used, it's in bad shape as seen in link I posted (#14).
It would be a great place to look around in.

The building in my photo was already deserted and walksofts links are more recent to building than mine is . It must have been a nice mill for so many photo's to show up on walksofts links for people who take photo's of old grain mills . The family stayed in area but that son died he was born in 1914 died after leaving Ashton .
