I swore I would NOT post during vacation time. In fact, this is the only piece I have bought in two weeks. But . . . easier said than done. I already had a plain, 10" Metallin, but I have discovered a new affection for all kinds of Loetz green pieces, as long as they do not occupy too much space.
And you knnow my motto: at least two of a kind. This one is tiny: 5.75" high. As usual with Metallin pieces, no pontil mark. The matching piece (Pic. 3) is 10" tall. Pic. 4 shows a Loetz Medina as another example of gilding.
First two photos, courtesy of the dealer, who also happens to be a good friend and a Glasshound.

The question is; do you ever go on vacation from collecting? Do you say, "I can't buy that, I'm on vacation"? Oh, and nice Metallin vase, Al. I try to get two of everything too, but I'm still looking for #1.
Vacation time money is for restaurants, supermarkets (cooking is another one of my passions) and family. It is also, unfortunately, end-of-the-month money. But . . . the addiction must be kept at all costs . . . .
Alfredo this was totally worth breaking the "rules". I love the color and shape. Particularly the color.
Have a nice time on holiday!
I agree about the addiction...don't ever lose your passion for anything, always feed it. I found this out the hard way. Gorgeous vase, Alfredo.
No pontil mark. Blown in mold, right? Then cut from top and and the rim polished. The pontil was actually at the top, right?
Right. As I do not get tired of saying, a polished pontil is no Loetz guarantee, just as a cut from the top is not a guarantee it is not Loetz.
Al, this is a great little piece. I know it has a happy home! Maybe you could think of it as a vacation souvenir.
Gorgeous gorgeous!! . I love the medina too. I need one of those still. They are so hard to come by. I also want (or should I more properly say need) an example of ophir. :)
The tall Metallin was traded to Dave, and then we found both designs in Loetz II (see his site). Mine is II-3831, Dekor 719. So now i have only one metallin and one Medina.
