matchsafer…
(5 items)
Hi, I have just joined this great page by Collectors Weekly, this is a rare owls face novelty vesta matchsafe, made from brass and silver plated, c. 1890, good snap shut with a striker on the base and very detailed feathering. These were popular in the 1890's. A great conversation piece, just imagine taking this from your pocket to strike your match to light your cigar?? They were often attached to an albert chain, this is a lovely original item, there were several novelty owls that I have seen. They are becoming extremely popular but be aware there are lots of chinese fakes about, and if you go to my facebook page, there is a large album of some of the fakes out there, I hope this helps collectors throughout the world. Look out for matchsaferunner as I will be doing regular posts.
