Thank God for a web site that sells locks and keys. Ebay is completely stupid for banning old brass keys and locks, none of the RR's use them anymore. The only thing worse is the low life scum that act like Ebay-police and report any key or lock that gets listed.

You got it mostly correct, railnsail and I hope you'll help spread the word about Railbid.com . They need all the advertising they can get. Be sure to check it out first to make sure you agree with helping tell others about the site.

Ebay began the prohibitions on "transportation" items per the Bush Administration's directive post-911, as they feared terrorists would take over trains (and planes, etc.) At least that is who eBay has always blamed.

As for the low-life scum, what they do is email the seller BEFORE reporting the listing. Then, after the listing is canned, they contact the seller offering a pittance price. (And what else is the poor seller to do, now that he can't sell it on eBay ?? especially a seller who may not realize he has a valuable key)

I reread my post and saw a poor choice of words. You are indeed absolutely correct, Railandsail, I just wanted to build on your comments, and offer further information, not criticize.
