This belt buckle was found at the Salvos about fifteen years ago and gives a little away about my past. I used to wear it out in the evenings when I was still hitting the bars up the road. These days it’s slightly tarnished. Life mellows one out. Not that it is overly fancy for a belt buckle but it shined up well.
I’m sure it’s solid silver but it’s not marked. In Australia everything has silver marks except colonial silver; so I’d always supposed it was ‘foreign’.
I need some help with this one. Perhaps it’s Mexican? Perhaps someone on Collector’s Weekly can help me here?
It’s 7.5 cm or 3” across.

im going to say that this is silver plated and its Navajo. this is my final answer:)
Why Navajo?
because it looks like it and ive seen something like this before and i just cant remember where it was. doesnt look mexican to me , it has more of a Navajo look to me .
Believe me Bellin, it's not plated. It's silver! I can smell silver plate! I'm allergic to nickel and I always smell silver items - the smell of the alloy is quite distinct.
That was Douglas Fairbanks with too much slap wasn't it? Looked like me after a hard nite of party in the nineties! Mind you, I was an avid viewer of the Cisco Kid in the fifties! Duncan Renaldo was king! We never saw it in colour!

So now I'm looking at Concha rather than Poncho and Cisco? I've seen the beautiful one with the shell shapes on the leather belts. The decorative technique is certainly similar to Navajo work.

Well I'm having a look into it, Sean. The hexagram is a nest or worms to research: satanic overtones, the Jewish symbolism. I'm into a new line around the Lakota at the moment. There are also references to something called a Koch Fractal. There are two stars there on the buckle. One within the other and those lines linking them all are a bit different too.
