RORSTRAND -SWEDEN
found this today on the way to the gym and my God these thrifts up here lately have been very dry . so i was some what pleased to find this very beautiful bread plate. the glaze is cracking . this is the svala pattern . made in sweden , im guess about the year that this was made maybe 1930s-1949?
heres some info ive pulled up from Rarstrand website a little company info.

For almost 300 years Rörstrand has been synonymous with quality and fine craftsmanship. Our plates and tableware have been handed down from generation to generation and become heirlooms, classics and collectors’ items that have written themselves into Swedish design history. Perhaps this is because we have always understood that quality goes beyond mere durability and functionality.

Working closely with Sweden’s leading designers, we have captured the essence of good taste and preserved it in the form of beautiful everyday items of porcelain. Some have aged better than others. When we look back over our design history, we can see that every age has its taste. Which will you choose and make your very own? It’s a matter of taste.

Thanks Bellin. Looked up "svala" and it looks and sounds so much like "swallow"... the Old English word was 'swealwe' and the Swedish/Frisian word has come into English. The pattern dates from around 1885 and was produced into the 1950's. I haven't found out the name of the designer yet. It looks like a classic piece of Swedish 'blue 'n white'. Nice find!
