I've had this nice little brooch for a while. I bought it on a flea market a couple of years ago when we were travelling in France. The one thing I'm sure of is that it's art deco. You can clearly see it because of the angular shape of it and the stylized flower pattern.
I'm not sure if the red 'stone' is glass or something else. I don't really think it's cinnabar as it feels cold to the touch.
I'm not sure if its real silver because there are no stamps.
Anyway, still a nice little brooch.
What do you think are the materials?

Doesn't look like cinnabar, too shiny
That trombone-catch is usually seen on 19th century jewelry, it could be older than Deco

Well maybe it could indeed be older. Thanks for your remarks!

Stillwater...you are so much better at this than I...isn't there a stone called Carnalian or something that is red like this beauty?
  7. Stillwater Stillwater, 7 months ago
Yes, carnelian is a bit more translucent and rusty-red though
It looks like Asian laquer jewelry but she says its cold to the touch?
My guess would be pressed Czech glass

    Totally makes sense, thanks Stillwater
