Snagged this 30's thermo on a BIN eBay auction. I've long admired this version, but never had any luck being high bidder. So I was glad to acquire for a reasonable expenditure. This one has some extra color. Looks like somebody painted the wall upon which it hung, but didn't bother moving it. But the paint blends well. I successfully removed some of it but rubbed a little too hard and got down to metal in a spot, so quit before I did any more damage. I've come to this realization about cleaning tin signs and trays: If surface distortion doesn't come off with soap and water, it probably ain't coming off without harming the piece.

This beauty hangs with two others along a thin strip next to our downstairs "library" door (see pic, also want to call attention to a sweet pretzel tin, which one of the Great Eight, Mr. Tommy, sent as a gift. Thanks again Tom, very generous and I love it!)

Great Dave! Still in wonderful condition, for some reason the paint used on these older therms was not very thick and it easily chips as well as rubs off. I too have learned this the hard way. The GREAT 8 continues to impress! Giving is what it's all about.

It would be really cool if the company had made a straight bottle version.

Thanks EJW. Petretti's 12th lists this version as 1930's and the the trade mark detail indicates as much ("Trade Mark Reg. U.S. Pat. Off." printed in tail of first C of Coca-Cola logo from 1930-1941).
