This is one of my favorite pieces that I brought back from France. It is from the Alsace region and was handmade by a local carpenter in the Bas Rhin, Strasbourg area of France. It is made of Oak and comes in two HEAVY pieces. I purchased this in 1996 at a consignment store. It holds all my table linens and wrapping paper - perfect place to store those things! The long map drawers slide in and out. We also have taken out the drawer completely and assembled jigsaw puzzles - just slide the drawer back at the end of the day with all the pieces and puzzle intact! We have moved many times over the years and we always have to find a room that will accommodate this piece...for that reason we call it the Albatross. It is about 7 1/2' high, 4' deep and 5 1/2' wide.
