Have this old rocking chair. No idea how old it is. Look like it has a lions face or the old north wind on the chair back. Also, there is a engraved initials on the underside of one of the arms.
Any assistance in identifying this chair would be greatly appreciated. Holds great sentimental value for my wife as it was her beloved mother's chair.

hi kermietruck. for starters, you might want to give a little more information. how long has it been in the family? where is the family from? what kind of wood is it? can we get a higher resolution larger photo of the entire chair? has it been refinished as far as you know? is the seat original? it looks like a very nice and interesting chair, but i can't see it well enough to tell you much. the large brass tacks which hold down that kind of leather seat became popular around 1850, but the decoration looks like it could be later - 1860s-70s? i could be wrong though.
