Crater form silver champagne cooler in the Secessionist style by Otto Schneider (Berlin, 1879- ). Stamped “Otto Schneider” and “800” with accompanying German hallmarks on the base. Dimensions: 7" (D) x 9.5 (W, with handles) x 9” (H).
This piece of early 20th century German decorative sliver certainly reflects the influence of artistic styles from the Austrian Secessionists, particularly the work of Josef Hoffmann (1870-1956). Another example of this cooler sold at Hampel Fine Art Auctions, Munich (lot#1232, 4/2009).

Thanks, Bellin. You should have seen how dirty it was when I found it. I used Maas metal cleaner on it and about 15 different rags to get rid of the decades of tarnish.
Love it's classic lines, beautiful!...:-)
