My grandparents were cleaning out the cabinets above the refrigerator and found this knife tucked into the corner in the back of the cabinet. Neither of them had seen the knife before. I talked to my grandpa and he built the house in 1971 and nobody has lived in it except them.
The knife is in overall great shape since it's been stored in that cabinet for so long. I have no idea how old it is? The handle is carved wood with brass on it. Looks like the handle was carved to look like a rose on the end. The brass is solid and looks like it was hammered into shape. I haven't cleaned it up very much at all, I did wipe a little bit of Brasso on the brass to clean it up but I haven't done any heavy scrubbing.
The blade is 6 1/8in long
Overall length is 10 1/2in long
I plan on finding a small shadow box to put it in or find a period-correct sheath to match it.
Any information or suggestions to how old this knife is would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
