      When I first saw it I thought of a Yad Torah but not sure. The clip on the side suggests hanging it in a pocket.

      When I first saw it, I thought sugar crusher! but like Vetraio50 the clip put that thought out of my mind! unless it was a sort of personal 'byo' sugar crusher...:-)

      Could it have held a stamp with the owner's custom seal at the bottom, such as one would use to impress one's seal onto melted wax on an envelope? Beautiful object.
