Flying Quail Car Mascot, an original accessory used on the Ford Model A
In 1927 the Ford Model A was introduced. It carried the first standard Ford hood ornament, a handsome quail in flight, cast in zinc and nickel plated. Manufactured by Stant Machine Company, the quail ornament remained unchanged until it was replaced by an ornament depicting a greyhound in 1933.
This was item #4 in the hood ornament auction.

bid on one of these this week, thought it was well worth the 61.00$ i had for top bid, others thought i did'nt want it bad enough. Guess they were right. What is a good price for one of these?
I am not sure what a good price is. I know 61.00 is good, from what I hear most of the ones on the market now are reproductions, I have seen the advertised ones but I don't know when they first started repros. I would probably even have to get mine appraised to know for sure !~Phil.
