I bought this vintage brooch at an estate sale resently. I can not find another like this one to obtain information. The family told me it was old ;apx. 1940 because it was their mothers.. It is not signed. There are no flaws..just in my photohraphy..It is a quite sparkly brooch and beautiful; measuring apx. 1 1/4 x 2 1/2 inches. Any info ???
Thanks so much for any help...Liz

    Hi Liz!
    Beautiful brooch, it has a "regal" Edwardian quality, and I love the tiered/3-D effect with the drippy center pendants - so glamorous! Seeing the back of the brooch would possibly lend clues to the maker or simply add to one's knowledge on the quality and construction. Do the rhinestones have open-backs? If so are they foiled backs or clear? Is the metal rhodium-plated or a more inexpensive finish? 1940s is a very reasonable guess. The 2-part design with a variety of stone shapes already signifies quality, even if the maker is a mystery. Unfortunately so many costume jewelry makers did not signed their pieces in the 30s & 40s, the hang tag was removed after purchase and that was that. Take a look on Ebay at Unsigned Weiss or Unsigned Kramer, and you can get an idea of similar icy, clear rhinestone designs of the 30s & 40s - maybe you will come across a piece like your own. Good Luck!

    Thanks so much Anna;
    The back looks well made but all is covered. Looks like gold covering on the back of all stones. Not sure of the metal quality. I will keep on looking as you suggested and maybe I will see the brooch listed somewhere. Thanks for all your help ..very useful information.....Liz

    Hi Liz,
    The construction of the setting is very nice quality, and the curvaceous quality shows nicely from the back view. I love the thoughtfulness of the designer's placement of the pin clasp, so it's hidden within the openwork-type design. I think your piece can also be worn as a pendant, which would be a bonus!!!
    All the Best,
