This lantern has has a turn stile with 3 different color lenses. The red lense is still intact. the turn stile is operated by turning the loop handle to place the desired color lense in front of the Sherwood Limited ceramic wick. Appears to have been fueled with kerosene or fuel oil of some type. I am trying to find out if it was used by marine, railroad, or the military.

    Thanks for any help,

It's Railroad, but not used in the US. This style lantern was popular in Europe especially in England.

railnsail thank you for the info. I will try researching lanterns used in England. I need to re-examine the lantern and look for specific marks again.

      Thanks again
