This bag belonged to my aunt and we place it as 20's-30's, she was born in 1907. We brought it home with a lot of other goodies when we helped clean out her home 30-some years ago. As we get older we are downsizing and with no children interested in it we will probably ebay this item.
The clutch has a loop on the back which, I assume, could have attached it to your belt while dancing. It appears to be lizard/alligator and has the little feet proudly displayed. The clasp and hardware appear to be tortoise but could be bakelite.
I haven't been able to find another to compare it to and wondered if anyone has a feel for it's age and value. The condition appears to be good and with some use. One tiny claw is missing and the larger non-mirror pocket inside is partially separated from the lining. Thanks for any information.
