I've been after one of these AF Restricted Area signs for a long time. They're not something that you find very often. Measures 18" x 18". Made of heavy duty aluminum. These Restricted Area signs are posted on the outside of very sensitive areas on base. And they're not kidding about the use of deadly force. That tells you how sensitive the stuff is. Now all I need to complete my AF signs is a Controlled Area sign.

I have a reflective plastic, self adhesive one of these or very similar, but a little bigger, still with it's backing in an unused state. My question is, how would it have found it's way to a military surplus sale in England?

We've had a lot of bases and smaller sites close down in England and around Europe since the Cold War ended. Perhaps it came from one of those places. Our DRMO (Defense Reutilization and Management Office) holds several sales of surplus items at bases in Europe.

Ah! That makes sense. It is suprising some of the things that come up for sale from the military. I believe in other parts of Europe the civilian possession of ex-military items is very restricted! Many thanks, hope you are successful in your search!

My rooommate is retired from the air force, and we have this exact sign hanging on our basement door! I was curious...how much did this one go for?

I offered the guy $75, and he accepted it. I offered him that much because I really wanted it. He had another one that sold for $40+. That's ok though. I got what I wanted for what I thought was a fair price. I have seen these signs go for over $100. I guess it all depends on how many people want it at that particular time.
