Hi, Petey! Fascinating helmet. I don't know what to think about the wear to the black paint. Unstable paint?, or perhaps due to damage from impact with something?
Thanks for looking BELLIN68, kerry10456, mrmajestic1, pw-collector, and miKKoChristmas11, and in answer to your question, some helmets seem to have been painted in a hurry with no real preparation, so the paint chips off more easily through general wear and tear.
