I hope your restoration is going well .. Did you get any response as to value?, I have a similar bike, mine has a side car and smaller wheels and I was curious as to the value but have been having a hard time contacting anyone who would know. Any guidance apperciated .. thx
Hi;
My name is David and I am a Forensic Historical Motorcycle Archaeovist. I am researching and will be writing the history of the Speed-O-Byke. If you need history, parts, and value I can help. I hope I have sent this before you have started the restoration? I would urge you not to strip it down. The more original it is the more it is worth. I can see some things your are missing. Chain guard, seat cover, hand grips, tool pouch, small round disk plate to the back of motor, front finder I.D. plate. Things I can see that is incorrect equipment. Rims and tires, front finder, whats left of seat may be wrong but I need closer look. Would very much like to talk to you about your bike and connect to anyone else who has a Speed-O-Byke of any year. Please contact me at motorcycle.history@yahoo.com or call at 408-497-7746. If you email me your phone number I would be happy to call you. Please feel free to pass along my contact info to anyone who has a bike or info on them.
Thanks,
David
Whoops, I forgot to talk about the value. The true value of the Speed-O-Byke is yet to be established and that is part of my research and I will be giving values in my book. However, what I have heard regarding value of the bikes is as follows. I have heard of completely original almost mint early models of the Speed-O-Bykes selling between $3,000 to $4,000. But, and that's a big but, the more parts that are missing or the more damage it has dramatically effects the value. I have recently spoke to a man who picked up one of these bikes for $225 and another man who pick one up for $500. There are out there but, they are rare. I hope this helps. Again, please feel free to contact me at motorcycle.history@yahoo.com or call at 408-497-7746.
David
