This is Rev. Leonard Mitchell at a young age. Is this a mourning photo? I noticed he's wearing all black and there's a hat sitting next to him. His brother, Franklin died in 1897 (age 20), I've been unable to figure out how. Maybe a war? Leonard was 11 when his brother died.
Any help that anybody could provide would be greatly appreciated!!

He looks to be around seven or eight here. I don't think it is a mourning photo, the bow tie seems too splashy. I think it might just be a photo.
