This was about the history of Coca-Cola advertising throughout the ages and not about Coca-cola collecting. I have this insert. Organized Coca-Cola collecting didn't start until around 1974. Yes, there were Coke memorabilia collectors before 1974, but very few. I started collecting in 1969 actually. My first items: a stack of a dozen 1950s Coca-Cola Menu Girl trays in mint condition. Cost: free. These were given away every time you bought a case of Coke, filled up your gas tank....which explains why millions are still out there. In the late 60s, Coca-Cola items weren't considered collectible or even valuable. Most items from my early years of collecting were simply given to me. I remember a neighbor of my parents who had a huge 6 foot metal Coke sign hanging in his garage. He just gave it to me. Now, everyone thinks they have a valuable item if it says "Coca-Cola" on it. I only wish I could go back in time...I'd go back to the 1950s and gather as much of the early Coca-Cola memorabilia that I could bring back in my time machine! And some comic books, baseball cards, toys, jukeboxes......
