A magnificent car mascot that I stopped bidding on after 4000 dollars,
just more than its worth.

Its a beauty and the style is very much like that of Francois Bazin, but this has M. Podie Brad signed on the piece, with a motometer on a dogbone, and an industrial Chromium base.

I do not know what M. Podie Brad means, usually that is where the artists signature is but I have never heard of him. A friend of mine has this one for sale, but it is in no where near as nice a speciman, no motometer and dirty and coroded looking.

From later knowledge gained from 2 new books by Legrand, who started the collecting hobby, and was the first to write some books, I now realize that Podie Brand designed a number of magnificent mascots during the twenties and into the thirties. Other research revealed to me that his pieces don't really come up anywhere here in N. America, but can be found in an international auction sites, such as those in France. No other info on this very interesting designer has ever surfaced on the internet that I have seen. I believe he made all his mascot designs between 1925 and 1930.
