This 1880s cabinet card photograph falls into the oddball category!
I would think that the man has a lip problem-- maybe a cleft lip that he is trying to hide with his extended moustache.
Or maybe this was part of his evidence in a lawsuit against his barber (just kidding).
Whatever the reason it is interesting to speculate on and fits well in a collection of strange images.
